Wine information > Wines from Algeria
Wines from AlgeriaNowadays Algeria, a former North African colony of France, isn't a top wine producing country anymore. However, it was an important wine area in the early 1900's. It was the the fourth largest wineproducing country in the world. These wines, produced by French methods, embody essential qualities not found in any other wines, except those of France, to which country Algeria exports a goodly quantity. The wines are soft and vinous, entirely free from coarseness and earthiness, and keep well. Both red and white wines are made, and approximate in character to well-known French types. |
